Update Project Form

Project Topic:
Project Description:
The project on which I am working is based on applications of data warehousing, that is performed through OLAP (on line analytical processing). OLAP basically used to describe the analysis of complex data from data warehousing. The term stands for (On-Line Analytical Processing) Our definition is desgined to be short and easy to remember .The OLAP definition in just five key words: Fast Analysis of Shared Multidimensional Information ---- or ,FASMI for short. 1:Fast means that the system is targeted to deliever most response to users, within about five seconds, with the simplest analyses taking no more that one second and very few taking more than 20 seconds 2: Analysis means that the system can cope with any business logic and statistical analysis that is relevant for the application and the user. 3:Shared means that the system implements all the security requirements for confidentiality and ,if multiple write acess is needed concurrent update locking at an appropriate level. 4:Multidimensional means that system must provide a multidimensional conceptual of the data , including full support for hierarchies and multiple hierarchies. 5:Information is all of the data derived information needed, wherever much is relevant for the application. Features of OLAP: a)Multidimensional Conceptual View b)Intuitive Data Manipulation c)Acessibility:OLAP as a Mediator:In this OLAP engines as middleware, sitting between heterogeneous data sources and an OLAP front end.THE FEATURE(c) IS IMPORTANT. d)Treatment of missing Values e)Extraction of Mssing Values. Olap Survey:it has found that slow query response is consistently the most often---cited technical problem with OLAP products. The Codd Rules Dr.Codd was very well known as a respected database researcher from 1960s through the late 1980s ,his Olap rules proved to be controversial due to being vendor-sponsored;rather than mathmatically based. Special Features S: 1)Treatment of Non-Normalized Data: this refer to the integration between an OLAP engine and DENORMALIZED source data. 2)Storing OLAP Results:Keeping them Seperate from Source data. 3)Unlimited Dimensions&Aggregation Levels:Basically no product can posiibly comply with this feature, because there is no such thing as an unlimited entity on a limited computer. 4)Unrestricted Cross-Dimensional Operations: All the Calculations must be allowed across all dimensions, not just 'measures' dimensions.
